FG/REFINERY

The Federal Government has admitted that it is not in the best position to manage the nation’s refineries.

Minister of state for petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva, stated this during his appearance on a programme, saying Government is not the best manager of Refineries as they are actually going to have professional managers to manage the Refineries.

Ehanire while explaining that the Muhammadu Buhari led administration cannot be blamed for the present state of the facilities as it inherited damaged Refineries,noted  that the government does not subscribe to the idea of selling off the
Refineries in their present condition as such action would be widely criticised by citizens.

MEANWHILE,

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has disclosed that there is currently no set date for petrol subsidy removal.

 Sylva made this known while speaking with newsmen revealing that the government is making efforts to put structures in place to cushion the effect of the eventual subsidy removal and being considerate of citizens.

He therefore stated the need   to put some structures in place and create an alternative that is cheaper and more affordable so that the impact on the people can be minimized.

NIG/COVID VENTILATOR

The fight against covid-19 in Nigeria has received a boost as the country received 26 ventilators and other equipment from the world health Organisation.

Minister of health Dr Osagie Ehanire revealed this while receiving the donated item s from the WHO’s country representative Dr Walter Kazadi on behalf of the Federal Government in Abuja.

According to him,   the items were delivered on the same day Nigeria recorded its highest daily infections in six months, amid a strike by resident doctors in the Country.

Dr Ehanire while appreciating the additional assets, promised that the Federal Government would keep an inventory of the ventilators also assured Nigerians that the items donated will be properly utilized.

AKWA IBOM/NIGER DELTA

Akwa Ibom state Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has lauded the Niger Delta recovery plan NDRP initiated by the interim Administrator, Presidential Amnesty Programme, col. Milland Dikio Retd, for Economic Empowerment of Ex-Agitators and the Niger Delta Region.

Speaking in Government house, Uyo, the State Capital when Dikio paid him a courtesy visit, Gov Emmanuel,Described the new model of train, mentor and employ, TME contained in NDRP as a step in the right direction, saying the strategy would turn ex-agitators into successful entrepreneurs

Gov Emmanuel while insisting that stipends given to them would not solve their economic problems, called on ex-agitators and beneficiaries of the programme to grab the opportunities in the maritime sector and develop other Economic potential in the Region.

US/PLANE

A sightseeing plane de Havilland beaver owned by southeast aviation LLC has been crashed in southeastern Alaska, killing all six people on board,

according to the united states coastguard and federal aviation Administration, revealing  that the plane’s emergency alert beacon was activated at about 11:20am local time as it crashed in the area of misty fjords national monument, near the city of Ketchikan.

Meanwhile, the identities of those killed in the crash were not immediately released, as a coastguard helicopter lowered two rescue swimmers to the site, but reported that no survivors.

THAILAND/LAWSUIT

Authorities in Thailand are facing allegations of using lawsuits and new emergency decrees to fend off a rising tide of public anger about their handling of the covid-19 pandemic as the Country’s infection rate and death toll continue to hit record highs.

Report says public disaffection with the government has grown in parallel with infections, reinvigorating a year-old protest movement calling on Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha to step down

While reacting, officials insist that the moves are aimed strictly at those spreading false and misleading information.

Meanwhile, allies of the government on Thailand’s conservative right are joining the calls for Prayuth to leave, accusing his Administration of bungling the vaccine rollout.

PHILLIPINE/LOCKDOWN

The Philippine capital and several nearby provinces have headed back into a strict lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of the delta variant, just hours after people scrambled desperately for vaccines at several covid-19 vaccination sites raising concerns about a stampede.

in a statement by presidential spokesman Harry Roque explained that the movement restrictions were Reimposed just after midnight across metro manila, an urban sprawl of 16 cities that is home to 13 million people.

According to him,   special service people, including those buying essential goods, travelling for medical reasons and front-line workers, would be allowed unrestricted movement, even if unvaccinated.

Meanwhile president Rodrigo Duterte during his regular televised address last week threathened that people who are unvaccinated should be barred from leaving their homes or face jail term.

CALIFONIA/FIRE

A three-week-old wildfire engulfed a tiny Northern California mountain town has been wiping out historic buildings and leaving much of the downtown in ashes, also destroyed homes as crews braced for another explosive run of flames in the midst of dangerous weather.

Report says the Dixie fire, swollen by bone-dry vegetation gusts, raged through the Northern Sierra Nevada community of Greenville a gas station, hotel and bar were among many fixtures gutted in the town.

According to Plumas County supervisor Kevin gGoss post on his Facebook said the fire burnt down the entire downtown, historical buildings, families homes, small businesses, while   school children  are completely lost.

The growing blaze which broke out on July 21 was the state’s largest current wildfire had blackened more than 1,305 Miles also burned dozens of homes before making its new run.

BURKINA FASO/KILLINGS

Suspected Armed group has killed no fewer than 30 people in a series of attacks in villages across northern Burkina Faso.

 The Country’s Defence Ministry disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen that the unidentified assailants struck villages near the town of Markoye and attacked security forces

According to the statement, the victims included 11 civilians, 15 soldiers and four members of a government-backed civilian militia as more than 10 attackers were also killed, adding the military had regained control of the area.

it would be noted that since 2015, Burkina Faso have been struggling to fight back against increasingly frequent and deadly attacks from armed groups linked to Al-Qaeda and Isil Isis, but no group has claimed of responsibility for the attack.

  34. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids.
    I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
    There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
    She never wants to go back! LoL I know this
