Former emir of kano, mallam lamido sanusi has kicked against secessionists calling for the break-up of nigeria.

Sanusi expressed his disapproval in a statement issued to newsmen in lagos state, stressing that those who say they want to break-up country do not know what they are talking about.

The emir who was the former governor of the central bank of nigeria, cbn insisted that nigeria had much to gain staying together as one to move the country forward in all ramifications.

He therefore urged the people to stop looking up to the government to solve all the challenges bedevilling the country but join hands to help the government in solving them.

A former senator representing kogi west, dino melaye has demanded the resignation of those in charge of security at the nigerian defence academy, kaduna.

Melaye made the demand while condemning the attack on nda, describing it as a shame.

It would be recalled that some unkown gunmen dressed in army camouflage broke into the institution premises at early hours of august 23, killing two army officers and abducting two majors.

However, reacting to the incidence, melaye warned that the attack on nda shows no place is safe in nigeria, saying top security officers should tender their resignation letter due to incompetency.

IVORY COAST/EBOLA

Ivory coast has confirmed that the first person tested positive for ebola since 1994 has now fully recovered.

The country health ministry made the confirmation in a statement issued to newsmen in abidjan, saying the woman had tested negative twice.

It would be recalled that an 18-year- old woman, from guinea, had travelled to abidjan by bus two weeks ago and then tested positive for the disease.

Meanwhile, the ivory coast authority had immediately held a vaccination drive to cover people who had contact with the visitor, and security forces on the border with guinea.

CHAD/FORMER PRESIDENT

Chad former president, hissene habre, who was serving a life term in senegal for war crimes and crimes against humanity is dead.

Senegal’s justice minister, malick sall confirmed the incident in a televised briefing, saying habre succumbed to covid-19 on august 24 in dakar’s main hospital, adding that he fell ill in jail about a week ago and was taken to a clinic in the capital before being moved to the hospital principal, where he died.

The former strongman, who seized power in 1982, ruled with an iron fist until he fled to senegal in 1990 after being deposed by deby’s father, idriss deby itno, who died fighting rebels earlier this year.

Reacting, head of chad’s military government, mahamat idriss, also offered his sincere condolences to habre’s family and the chadian people.

The united states and its western allies are stepping up evacuation efforts after president joe biden stuck to the august 31 deadline to withdraw troops from afghanistan.

President biden, while speaking with white house correspondents said each day of operations in afghanistan brings added risk to the us troops, therefore he would not go back on his decision for their withdrawal.

Report also revealed that more than 70,000 people, foreigners and afghans, have been airlifted out of kabul since august 14, the day before the taliban swept into the afghan capital.

Not less than 380 afghans who worked for the south korean government have been airlifted from kabul in three military planes.

South korean foreign ministry confirmed this in a statement issue to newsmen saying the afghans would not be entering the country as refugees, instead, they would be designated as people of special merit

The ministry revealed that those evacuated would go through the quarantine process as soon as they arrive the country airport and will be moved to government-owned housing.

Report says part of the evacuees were medical professionals, vocational trainers, it experts and interpreters who worked at south korea’s embassy and on various humanitarian projects in afghanistan.
