President muhammadu buhari has ordered nigerian military to subdue perpetrators of the ongoing massacre in plateau.
Commander of the special task force, operation safe haven, general ali conveyed president buhari’s directive while addressing the troops deployed in tangoron community of riyom local government area of the state.
Ali who said the president asked the army to gun down anybody seen carrying illegal weapon in the state, noted that the time frame to carry out the president’s order is ten days, urging the troops to go into the bush and clear all perpetrators of evil wherever they are hiding.
While noting that despite heavy troops’ presence in the state, the army commander lamented that death and rape of scores of indigenes in broad daylight keep increasing, hence the need for the operation but charged the troops to be more careful in order not to injure innocent souls.
The chief of army staff, lt. Gen, faruk yahaya has flagged off flight for troops of joint task force operation hadin kai in a bid to ensure the welfare of nigerian troops.
Yahaya, in his remark during the flag off ceremony at the nigerian air force base maiduguri, borno state said welfare of troops is one of his cardinal focus for the nigerian army, stating that it was in that regard that the initiative for welfare flight was birthed.
He stated that the effort was to boost the morale of the troops as battle against insurgency continues across the country, adding that the flight had been scheduled to cover 3 main hubs, namely lagos, abuja and maiduguri.
The army chief further noted that the troops from lagos would be housed and managed at ikeja cantonment, while those in abuja would be at the nigerian army forward operational base and those in maiduguri would be at the headquarters theatre command respectively.
The peoples democratic party, pdp national legal adviser, emmanuel enoidem says only a national convention can remove the national working committee, nwc or any national officer.
Enoidem stated this in a communique after a sunday night meeting held by some nwc members in abuja, saying resignation of embattled pdp national working committee chairman, uche secondus was put to vote at the meeting.
He stated that 6 members voted for the sack or resignation of the chairman and 3 members abstained from voting but said in the pdp’s constitution, only the national chairman or a summon by two-third of nwc members can convene a meeting.
The legal adviser therefore noted that the action of the officials was in utter disdain, adding that there is no provision in the party’s constitution which donates powers to any individuals to ask an officer of the party to resign for any reason whatsoever.
Resident doctors in ondo state have appealed to the state government to harken to their demands so as to return to their designated post.
Speaking to newsmen, the general secretary of university of medical sciences teaching hospital ondo chapter, unimedth, dr john mathew, urged the government to look into their matter and respond to their requests for the sake of lives of the patients at the state hospitals and the health sector in general.
Mathew also appealed to the state government to accede to the doctors basic demands which includes unpaid five months salaries, adoption of the medical residency training act of 2017, among other demands.
