The federal government has tasked state governments to domesticate the national policy on medical oxygen in health facilities.
Minister of health, dr osagie ehanire made the request at a stakeholders consultative workshop for the adoption of national policy on medical oxygen in health facilities in dutse, jigawa state.
Dr. Ehanire, represented by the oxygen desk officer, department of hospital services, ministry of health, bishara bennett maintained that the adoption and implementation of the policy would help in providing solutions to most of the medical challenges in both the federal and states health facilities.
While stating that the federal government attaches much importance to the policy aimed at improving the quality of services in the country, the minister added that adopting the policy in the country’s health facilities would also help in addressing most of the respiratory complications especially the current situation of covid-19 pandemic and the major children killer disease, pneumonia.
The national working committee of the peoples democratic party, pdp has commenced its meeting.
Pdp deputy national chairman, southwest yemi akinwonmi had earlier announced the postponement of the nwc meeting scheduled for today until further notice to allow for broader consultations in the overall interest of the party but nine members of the nwc of the party under the leadership of the deputy national chairman, north, senator suleiman nazif held a meeting in defiance of an earlier announcement.
Nazif also announced that an emergency national executive committee meeting of the party would hold on friday, august 27.
Osun state governor, gboyega oyetola has asked the state’s caretaker chairman, prince gboyega famodun to discontinue the court case against some chieftains of the all progressives congress, apc who had invaded the party secretariat with armed thugs a 2 weeks ago.
It would be recalled that the caretaker secretary of apc in osun state, rasaq salinsile and former chairman of the party, adelowo adebiyi and five others were arraigned before an osogbo magistrate’s court following invasion of the party secretariat by armed thugs during a meeting of the ward congress appeal committee in osogbo.
However, in a press statement signed by his chief press secretary, ismail omipidan, governor gboyega ordered that the case against them be withdrawn and necessary measures should be taken to discontinue the matter.
Omipidan who disclosed that the governor was away when the incident occurred, stated that upon his return to the state on august 23, he summoned an emergency meeting of the party stakeholders and insisted that as members of the same family, whatever differences that existed could be resolved without necessarily resorting to litigation.
The speaker of kebbi state house of assembly, ismaila kamba and his deputy, muhammadu buhari aliyu have been impeached.
Chairman house committee on information and culture, muhammad tukur revealed this shortly after a closed-door plenary session in the assembly with newsmen, saying 20 out of 24 members of the assembly who attended the session took the decision without giving the reason for their impeachment.
Tukur however disclosed that a member representing bagudo west, muhammad abubakar lolo was immediately sworn in as the new speaker while a member representing zuru constituency, mohammaed zuru was sworn in as the new deputy speaker.

The authorities of yoruba language and culture tutors of nigeria, ondo state chapter, will converge in akure, the ondo state capital for a day conference tomorrow, wednesday august 24.
State chairman of the forum, aminat olagboye made the announcement, saying experts will deliver lectures on measures in addressing problems hindering the development of yoruba language and cultre in the society at the conference.
She therefore enjoined members to attend the conference promptly which is slated for 10 am and to be held at akure commercial secondary school, akure.
NDA/ BANDITS’ ATTACK
The nigerian defence academy, nda has confirmed bandits attack on the institution’s campus in afaka, kaduna state, earlier today, august 24.
Nda public relations officer, major bashir jajira made the confirmation in a statement made available to newsmen, saying 2 personnel were killed and 1 abducted with another one who sustained gunshot injuries.
The spokesman who stated that nda, in collaboration with the 1 division nigerian army, air training command and other security agencies in kaduna have commenced pursuit of the assailants assured the general public that the attackers would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel would be rescued.
Report indicated that the bandits who were dressed in military camouflage invaded the permanent site of the institution located along airport road, afaka, in igabi local government area of kaduna state.
The immediate past chairman of nigerian communications commission ncc, olabiyi durojaiye has died.
Report says durojaiye, 88 passed away in the early hours of today august 24, 2021 while receiving medical care for an undisclosed illness in lagos state.
It would be recalled that durojaiye who was a legal practitioner, worked for 35 years in the public sector, before elected as ogun east senator in 1999 on the alliance for democracy, ad platform and also served as a director in the central bank of nigeria, cbn as well the nigerian security printing and minting.
Meanwhile, ogun state governor, dapo abiodun has expressed grief over the death of the former ncc chairman, describing the deceased as a strong pillar of his administration and commiserated with his immediate family, praying to god almighty to forgive his shortcomings and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
