A GROUP KNOWN AS OYATO ORGANIZATION HAS INNAUGURATED AN ELEVEN MAN MEDIA TEAM TO WORK TOWARDS THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF ONDO KINGDOM.

THE MOVE IS TO SUPPORT SENATORIAL ASPIRANTS AS WELL AS THOSE OF THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY WHO BELIEVE IN THE VISSION OF OYATO OGANISATION IN ONDO TOWN.

FG/PETROL PRICE HIKE

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS ASSURED NIGERIANS THAT THERE WILL BE NO INCREASE IN PETROL PRICE IN JUNE THIUS YEAR.

A COMMITTEE SET UP BY THE NIGERIA GOVERNOR’S FORUM HAD ON MAY 19 RECOMMENDED A PETROL PRICE OF BETWEEN 380 NAIRA AND 408.5 NAIRA PER LITRE AS WELL CALLED FOR IMMEDIATE PETROL SUBSIDY REMOVAL.

IN A STATEMENT ISSUED AND SIGNED BY THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR PETROLEUM RESOURCES, TIMIPRE SYLVA, IN ABUJA HOWEVER, SAID THE GOVERNMENT RULED OUT THE POSSIBILITY OF HIKE IN PETROL PRICE ANY TIME SOON.

WHILE ADMITTING THAT PETROL SUBSIDY HAD BEEN A HUGE BURDEN ON NIGERIA GOVERNMENT FOR A LONG TIME, THE MINISTER ASSURED NIGERIANS THAT COST OF THE COMMODITY WOULD REMAIN THE SAME AT BETWEEN 162 AND 165 NAIRA PER LITRE.

HE SAID THE CLARIFICATION BECAME NECESSARY IN THE LIGHT OF RECENT REPORTS REGARDING RESOLUTION OF THE NIGERIA GOVERNORS FORUM TO INCREASE THE PUMP PRICE OF PETROL.

FG/EAST-WEST ROAD

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS RELEASED 7 BILLION NAIRA TO CONTRACTORS TO FACILITATE COMPLETION OF THE EAST-WEST ROAD PROJECT.

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NIGER DELTA AFFAIRS, OMOTAYO ALASOADURA DISCLOSED THIS WHILE INSPECTING VARIOUS SITES TO ASCERTAIN THE PROGRESS OF WORK ON THE EAST-WEST ROAD IN PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE.

THE MINISTER HOWEVER, URGED CONTRACTORS OF THE PROJECT TO COMPLY WITH DIRECTIVES ON COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT AND HAND OVER THE PROJECT TO PEOPLE OF THE REGION BEFORE THE END OF THE FIRST QUARTER IN 2022.

HE ADDED THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RELEASED THE AMOUNT TO ENSURE SAFE AND EFFICIENT MOVEMENT OF TRAFFIC ALONG THE ALREADY DUALIZED 15 KILOMETRE STRETCH OF THE HIGHWAY FROM THE ONNE PORT REFINERY, ELEME PETRO-CHEMICALS AND OTHER INDUSTRIES ALONG THE HIGHWAY.

NYSC/COVID-19 VACCINE

DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS, NYSC, BRIGADIER GENERAL SHUAIBU IBRAHIM SAYS COVID-19 VACCINATION WILL NOT BE MADE COMPULSORY FOR CORPS MEMBERS IN THE COUNTRY.

IBRAHIM STATED THIS DURING A NATIONWIDE VIRTUAL ADDRESS TO THE 2021 BATCH ’A’ STREAM II PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS AHEAD OF THEIR OFFICIAL INDUCTION IN THE 37 NYSC ORIENTATION CAMPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

THE D.G HOWEVER ADVISED THE CORPS MEMBERS TO MAKE THEMSELVES AVAILABLE TO OFFICIALS FROM THE NATIONAL PRIMARY HEALTHCARE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY WHENEVER THEY VISIT THEIR CAMPS TO ADMINISTER THE VACCINE ON CAMP PARTICIPANTS.

WHILE URGED THE CORPS MEMBERS TO ABIDE BY THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE OF THE SCHEME’S BYE-LAWS AND ACT IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN GOOD CONDUCT THROUGHOUT THEIR SERVICE YEAR, THE DG ALSO CHARGED THEM TO EMBRACE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S 75 BILLIONN NAIRA YOUTH TRUST FUND AND NATIONAL YOUNG FARMERS’ SCHEME BY WHICH INTERESTED CORPS MEMBERS IN AGRIC-BUSINESS WOULD BE EMPOWERED.

CHAIRMAN OF THE ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF UNIVERSITIES, ASUU, BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY CHAPTER, DR KWAEHFAN TARMOMBO, HAS DEBUNKED RUMOURS THAT LECTURERS OF THE INSTITUTION ARE ON STRIKE.

TARMOMBO DEBUNKED THE REPORT WHILE SPEAKING WITH NEWSMEN IN MAKURDI, THE STATE CAPITAL, BUT NOTED THAT THE LECTURERS ONLY PROTESTED OVER UNPAID SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES.

MEANWHILE, A SENIOR LECTURER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION IN THE STITUTION, JOHN ORGI, HAD POSTED ON HIS OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE THAT THE LECTURERS DOWNED TOOLS EVEN AS SOME STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY ALSO SAID NO LECTURE HAD BEEN ENTERING THEIR LECTURE HALLS ON IN THE SCHOOL PREMISES.

THE ASUU CHAIRMAN, WHO LAMENTED THAT SALARY OF MARCH WAS PAID ON APRIL 20 AND UP TILL NOW THEY WERE YET TO RECEIVE ANY OTHER SALARY, HOWEVER, SAID THE LECTURERS WOULD NEED AN APPROVAL FROM NATIONAL BODY OF THE UNION BEFORE EMBARKING ON ANY INDUSTRIAL ACTION.

LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR, BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU HAS ACCEPTED RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SPECIAL VISITATION PANEL ON THE APPOINTMENT OF THE 9TH VICE-CHANCELLOR OF THE LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY, LASU.

SPEAKING AFTER RECEIVING THE REPORT, THE STATE COMMISSIONER FOR INFORMATION, GBENGA OMOTOSO IN A STATEMENT SAID IN DUE COURSE, A NEW GOVERNING COUNCIL FOR LASU WILL BE CONSTITUTED.
