THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS NYSC, HAS CALLED ON THE 2021 BATCH B, STREAM II CORPS MEMBERS, POSTED TO BORNO STATE TO AVOID BOARDING VEHICLES AT ILLEGAL MOTOR PARKS.

THE NYSC COORDINATOR IN BORNO, ALHAJI NURA UMAR, MADE THE CALL, AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE THREE WEEKS ORIENTATION EXERCISE IN KATSINA.

UMAR FURTHER REAFFIRMED NYSC’S COMMITMENT TO CORPS MEMBERS’ SECURITY AND GENERAL WELFARE, ADDING THAT THEY WERE IN CONSTANT LIAISON WITH SECURITY AGENCIES AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS.

HE THEREFORE ADVISED THEM TO AVOID RISKY ENGAGEMENTS, SUCH AS STAYING OUT LATE AT NIGHT, ATTENDANCE OF LATE NIGHT PARTIES, VISITATION OF DANGEROUS PLACES AND HITCHING RIDES WITH STRANGERS

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI HAS WRITTEN TO THE SENATE, SEEKING AN AMENDMENT TO THE RECENTLY SIGNED PETROLEUM INDUSTRY ACT, PIA.

IN THE LETTER READ DURING PLENARY BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE, SENATOR AHMAD LAWAN, PRESIDENT BUHARI SOUGHT FOR THE AMENDMENT TO ALLOW THE NON-EXECUTIVE MEMBERS TO BE INCREASED FROM TWO TO SIX IN THE INTEREST OF OUR NATIONAL PETROLEUM.

PRESIDENT BUHARI, IN THE LETTER PENNED TO RED CHAMBER,  WANTS AN AMENDMENT TO THE NEW ACT TO ALLOW FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE MINISTERS OF PETROLEUM AND FINANCE FROM THE BOARD OF THE NIGERIAN NATIONAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION, NNPC, SAYING THAT THEY CAN CONTINUE TO PERFORM THEIR FUNCTIONS WITHOUT NECESSARILY BEING MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

HOWEVER, PRESIDENT BUHARI ALSO CALLED THE SENATE, SEEKING THE SCREENING AND SUBSEQUENT CONFIRMATION OF BOARD MEMBERS OF THE ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COMMISSION, EFCC.

NCDC/UNILAG

THE NIGERIA CENTRE FOR DISEASE CONTROL NCDC HAS PLEDGED TO ASSIST THE UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS UNILAG WITH EQUIPMENT TO CONTAIN THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS.

IN HIS RULLING, JUSTICE KC OKEREKE TO ADJOURN THE CASE TO OCTOBER 7 FOLLOWING THE INABILITY OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO APPEAR BEFORE THE COURT

THE COUNSEL TO KANU, ALOY EJIMAKOR, HAD ON AUGUST 27 2021 FILED THE CASES DEMANDING THAT THE FG RETURN THE SECESSIONIST TO KENYA WHERE HE WAS ALLEGEDLY ABDUCTED FROM, ALSO DEMANDED 5 BILLION NAIRA FROM THE GOVERNMENT OVER ALLEGED GROSS VIOLATION OF NNAMDI KNAU’S FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS.

WHILE SPEAKING WITH NEWSMEN, AT THE COURT TODAY, SEPTEMBER 21, BARRISTER EJIMAKOR EXPRESSED CONFIDENCE IN THE CAPACITY OF THE ABIA HIGH COURT TO UPHOLD THE LAW BY ENFORCING KANU’S HUMAN RIGHTS.

FOOD VENDORS/FG

FOOD VENDORS UNDER THE NATIONAL HOME-GROWN SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM, NHGSFP, HAS LAMENTED THAT THE DELAY IN PAYMENT FOR THE PROGRAM BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS DRASTICALLY AFFECTING THE STUDENTS’ ATTENDANCE.

THIS WAS DISCLOSED BY ONE OF THE FOOD VENDORS, WHO SPOKE ON THE CONDITION OF ANANOMITY IN AN INTERVIEW WITH NEWSMEN AT THE OFFICIAL HANDING OVER OF 150,000 FEEDING UTENSILS TO THE JIGAWA STATE GOVERNMENT HELD AT SIR NUHU SANUSI PRIMARY SCHOOL, DUTSE.

WHILE EXPLAINING  THAT WHENEVER FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PAID THE MONEY FOR THE PROGRAM THE STUDENTS’ ATTENDANCE INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY WHEN COMPARED TO THE MONTHS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DIDN’T MAKE ANY PAYMENT.

SHE THEREFORE ADVISED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THAT THE PAYMENT SHOULD NEVER BE DELAYED FOR ANY REASON IF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WANTS TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN THE PROGRAM.

A HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE MEMBER, BAMIDELE SALAM HAS CALLED ON THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA CBN TO STOP THE CONTINUOUS FALL OF THE VALUE OF NAIRA AGAINST THE DOLLAR.

SALAM, IN AN INTERVIEW WITH NEWSMEN IN ABUJA, DECRIED THE CONTINUOUS DEVALUATION OF THE NAIRA, SAYING THAT THE NIGERIAN CURRENCY IS DOING BADLY WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER CURRENCIES OF THE WORLD.

THE LAWMAKER WHILE LAMENTING THAT THE SITUATION IS WORRISOME BECAUSE OF ITS EFFECT ON TRADE, INVESTMENT AND ON THE CONSUMPTION OF GOODS AND SERVICES BOTH LOCALLY AND  IMPORTED WHICH DEPEND ON RAW MATERIALS, THEREBY ADVISED THE CBN TO DO SOMETHING URGENT ABOUT THE SITUATION IN ORDER TO SAVE THE PLAYERS IN THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY.

ENUGU/TRADITIONAL RULER

THE ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT HAS ANNOUNCED THE IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OF THE RECOGNITION OF IGWE CHRISTOPHER EVERESTUS OKWOR AS THE TRADITIONAL RULER OF IHEKWUENU AKU AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY IN IGBO-ETITI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF THE STATE.

THE SUSPENSION, ACCORDING TO A STATEMENT BY THE COMMISSIONER FOR CHIEFTAINCY AFFAIRS, DR. CHARLES C. O. EGUMGBE, IS IN THE INTEREST OF PEACE, ORDER AND GOOD GOVERNANCE AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH SECTION 10B OF THE TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW, CAP 151, REVISED LAWS OF ENUGU STATE, 2004”.

THE SUSPENSION WHICH TAKES EFFECT FROM TODAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2021, WOULD SUBSIST PENDING THE CONCLUSION OF INVESTIGATION BY THE RELEVANT BODIES”

EARLIER, THE ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT HAD EXPRESSED UTTER DISMAY OVER THE INCIDENT AND THE ALLEGATION OF THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE NOW SUSPENDED TRADITIONAL RULER IN THE DEMOLITION AS WELL AS THE NEGATIVE EFFECT OF THE DEVELOPMENT ON THE PEACE AND SECURITY OF THE COMMUNITY, THEREFORE REASSURED THE CITIZENS OF ITS IRREVOCABLE COMMITMENT TO THEIR WELFARE, AS WELL AS THE PEACE AND SECURITY OF THE STATE.

KASTINA/BANDITS

GOVERNOR AMINU MASARI OF KATSINA STATE HAS STATED THAT THE NEW MEASURES PUT IN PLACE TO FIGHT INSECURITY IN THE STATE ARE WORKING AND THAT THE STATE IS WINNING THE WAR AGAINST BANDITRY.

THE GOVERNOR STATED THIS IN KATSINA AT A CONSULTATIVE BRIEFING HELD WITH THE MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND CULTURE, LAI MOHAMMED, ON THE SECURITY SITUATION IN THE STATE.WHICH WAS ATTENDED BY HEADS OF SECURITY AGENCIES, TRADITIONAL RULERS, POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS, CIVIL SOCIETY GROUPS AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS.

ACCORDING TO THE GOVERNOR THE SUSPENSION OF MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORKS IN 13 LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF THE STATE IS YIELDING FRUITS BECAUSE INFORMANTS OF BANDITS AND KIDNAPPERS HAD BEEN CUT OFF, ADDING THE DEMANDS FOR RANSOM WHICH WERE BEING MADE THROUGH TELEPHONE CALLS HAD BEEN MADE IMPOSSIBLE.

IT WOULD   BE RECALLED THAT THE GOVERNOR HAD DIRECTED THAT ONLY TWO DESIGNATED FILLING STATIONS BE ALLOWED TO SELL FUEL OF UP TO 5000 NAIRA TO MOTORISTS IN 14 LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF THE STATE, ALSO REINFORCED THE TOTAL BAN ON THE SALE OF PETROL IN JERRY CANS AT FILLING STATIONS, PROMISED THE STATE WILL IMPLEMENT THE BAN ON THE SALE OF FAIRLY USED MOTORCYCLES IN SOME MARKETS.
