President muhammadu has approved the reappointment of professor ishaq oloyede as registrar and chief executive of the joint admission and matriculation board, jamb.
In a statement issued by the director, press and public affairs, federal ministry of education, ben goong, president buhari also approved the reappointment of prof. Abubakar rasheed as executive secretary of the national universities commission, nuc for another five years and hamid bobboyi as executive secretary of the universal basic education commission, ubec for a second term of four years.
Goong who stated that the reappointment was based on the recommendation of minister of education, adamu adamu, noted that oloyede would serve as the registrar for a second term of five years, adding that the appointments had been with effect from august, 1 2021.
The federal government has admonished fifth columnists and naysayers to stop spewing negative and false narratives around boko haram members who are surrendering in droves in the north-east.
The minister of information and culture, alhaji lai mohammed gave the admonition in an interview with newsmen in washington, describing as false and demoralizing the claim in certain quarters that the surrendered insurgents would be recruited into the nigerian military.
Mohammed who also berated those who were alleging that the surrendered insurgents were not actual boko haram fighters and if they were, they should be shot rather than granted amnesty, therefore noted that rather than changing the narratives, the federal government and the military should be respectfully commended for their resourcefulness and doggedness respectively in the fight against insurgency.
Kogi west elders, operating under the aegis of kogi west elders’ forum have called for 30 years political imbalance to be corrected when the opportunity presents itself in november, 2023.
The chairman of the forum which is a think-tank for western senatorial district, gen. David jemibewon retired made the call while speaking at a press conference in abuja, noting that there should be consolidation as the western district of the state has been cooperating with eastern and central districts that have produced governors in the past.
Jemibewon lamented that in kogi state, which their zone is a major component, it has never produced a governor in the last 30 years of its creation, insisting that the western district would not accept deputy governor in 2023 when governor yahaya bello would have finished his second tenure.
He further noted that everything must be done to address the prevailing political imbalance in kogi state between the three senatorial districts of kogi east, kogi central and kogi west and its consequence on the west senatorial district’s political future.
Former aide to former nigeria president, goodluck jonathan, reno omokri has urged southern governors to start arming their state police.
Omokri who gave the charge on his social media platform frowned at the review of grazing reserves in 25 states by president muhammadu buhari.
The former presidential aide however appealed to the southern governors to start arming their state police in exactly the same way kano armed hisbah, noting that whatever law empowered hisbah should also allow southern governors to establish their own version.

Wife of nigerian singer, paul okoye, popularly known as rude boy, anita okoye has filed a petition for divorce.
This was revealed in a leaked petition which cited incompatible differences as the basis of the irreversible breakdown of the seven-year-old marriage.
It would be recalled that rude boy got married to anita in 2014 after over 10 years of courtship, even as the news of their pending divorce comes as a massive shock to many nigerians, there had been indications that the couple had been in a serious domestic crisis.
According to reports, it was said that paul okoye is currently on a press tour and anita has moved to the united states where she is working on her master’s degree as a graduate student.
The confederation of african football, caf has revealed plans to increase the prize money for the winner of the africa nations cup, afcon.
Caf president, dr patrice motsepe disclosed this in yaounde, the capital city of cameroon during the draws for the afcon 2021, stating that the prize money for champions will be 4.5 million dollars.
Motsepe noted that caf wants to make afcon self-sustaining, competitive and exciting as other football competitions around the world hoping that an african country wins the fifa world cup.
The president further stated that, caf is discussing with african governments to increase their budget for football towards achieving this objective, therefore calling on private sector to invest in football by partnering with the confederation.
