The kaduna state independent electoral commission kad-siecom has again postponed the local government election for the third time to september 4, 2021.
Chairman of the commission, dr saratu dikko-audu dsiclosed this in a meeting with leaders of political parties and stakeholders.
Dikko-audu however attributed the latest postponement to late arrival of the china battery to power the electronic voting machines.
It would be recalled that the election was slated to take place on august 14, 2021 until the latest postponement was announced, which according to the chairman, is to allow necessary election activities to be completed to ensure a credible election.
Doctors at the abubakar tafawa balewa university teaching hospital, atbuth, bauchi state has joined their counterparts across the country to down tools.
One of the doctors, who spoke with newsmen on condition of anonymity lamented that the strike, which he described as unfortunate, was needless if government had done the needful since national association of resident doctors, nard called off its last strike action.

The socio-economic rights and accountability project, serap has asked president muhammadu buahri to immediately release five activists arrested at dunamis international gospel centre last month.
It would be recalled that some activists were arrested by the department of security services, dss on july 4 for wearing t-shirts with buhari must go at the gospel centre.
However, justice anwuli chikere of the federal high court in abuja on july 26 ordered the dss to release the activists following separate ex-parte applications filed on behalf of the activists’ by their lawyer, tope temokun.
Meanwhile, report has it that the activists are still in the net of the security operatives despite the court order, reacting, serap urged president buhari to instruct the dss to immediately release the 5 activists.
The newly appointed chief judge of the federal capital territory, fct, justice salisu garba has resigned.
Media aide to the chief justice of nigeria, ahuraka isah revealed this in a statement issued to newsmen, disclosing that justice garba voluntarily retired to enable him to take over as the administrator of the national judicial institute, nji.
Isah stated that the board of governors of the nji under the chairmanship of the cjn, justice tanko muhammad had at a meeting they held on july 15, appointed justice garba to head the institute.
He added that garba took over from justice rosaline bozimo, whose tenure as the administrator of the institute came to an end on july 31 while justice garba’s appointment which takes effect from august 1, 2021 is to last for three years.
Imo state governor, hope uzodinma has denied sacking the commissioner for justice and attorney general of the state, cyprian akaolisa.
Governor uzodinma, in a statement made available to newsmen by state commissioner for information and strategy, declan emelumba announced that he never sacked akaolisa, who is currently slammed with a five-year ban from practising as a lawyer by legal practitioners disciplinary committee.
It would be recalled that governor uzodinma had on may 12 sacked akaolisa and 19 other commissioners, leaving 8 other commissioners.
The government however directed that the justice should immediately resume his normal duties as he was never dropped from the state cabinet.
The director centre for information, disease research department, bayero university, kano state, professor isa abubakar has cautioned nigerians not to depend only on covid 19 vaccination but maintain necessary precautions to curb spread of the virus.
Prof. Abubakar gave the warning while featuring on a television programme, saying the inability to maintain social distancing in the society triggered surge in cases of covid 19 in the country.

A human rights lawyer, femi falana has revealed why the kaduna state government filed fresh charges of terrorism and treasonable felony against the leader of the islamic movement of nigeria, sheikh ibrahim el-zakzaky and his wife, zeenat.
In a statement issued to journalists, falana disclosed that the new charges by kaduna state government against el-zakzaky was to frustrate his release and that of his wife from prison.
Justice gideon kurada of the kaduna high court had last week discharged and acquitted the leader and his wife of all charges leveled against them.
However, contrary to the court order, the state government filed fresh charges against him even as justice kurada said the charges were not supposed to be filed, saying that the state government cannot arraign someone for a crime that was not an offence at the time.
