Residents of both oke odunwo and okedera in ondo city have expressed grief over the report of a man calleed remi, surname witheld, who fell into a ditch at the bridge that joined oke odunwo and okedera together during a heavy downpour monday, july 12 night.
Speaking with eki fm reporters, an eye witness whose shop was beside the bridge, john oyewole said the missing okada rider and two other persons rolled into yhe bridge with their motorcycles during the heavy rain but two were rescued while remi is yet to be found
The elder brother, explained that remi was on his way to pick his child from school before the ugly incident occurred, while the police contacted visited the scene but later released his motorcycle to the family.
Also speaking, chairman of petalazer shoppping complex at adeyemi college of education, pastor christopher oladele confirmed that the victim was the deputy chairman of okada riders, adeyemi college of education chapter, adding that some hausa men and divers in the street had embacked on search but only found his sandals and motorcycle.
The people therefore on authorities to help rebuild the bridge to avoid future reoccurence as the ugly incident had become annual occurrence.
The incident was said to have triggered people blocking the road leading to awolope junction along oke odunwo street where the bridge was located, halting vehicular movement to express their grievances.
The akwa ibom police command has denied killing four persons in oron local government area of the state.
The spokesman for the command, sp odiko macdon, made the denial in a statement released to newsmen in uyo, the state capital.
Macdon, who said attention of the police command in the state was drawn to some social media publications alleging that four persons were killed at oron by the police, stated that for records purpose, the police were on a specified assignment to effect arrest of a wanted suspect.
He noted that suspect thereafter raised an alarm which led to an attack on the officers and an attempt to snatch their rifles from them led to their death as the officers resisted the attempt but in the ensuing struggle, three persons were hurt and taken to the hospital.
The nigeria labour congress, nlc has charged workers in rivers state to be politically conscious if they want to enjoy better treatment from the government.
The state nlc chairman, beatrice itubo, gave the charge at the quadrennial delegates’ conference of the nigeria union of teachers, rivers state wing in port harcourt.
Itubo, who admitted that teachers were poorly treated because they were not politically active, charged them to start registering for the 2023 general elections.
He added that if teachers begin to participate in active politics, they would be among the policymakers to decide their future.
The house of representatives has revisited the climate change bill passed by the 8th national assembly, to which president muhammadu buhari declined assent.
Sponsor of the bill, sam onuigbo, made this known to journalists in abuja after their plenary.
The lawmaker said he was happy that the house considered and adopted the report on the bill on july 6, 2021, and passed it on july 8.
The bill is said to be for an act to provide for the mainstreaming of climate change actions, establish the national council on climate change; and for other related matters.’
According to him, the bills will now be transmitted to the senate for concurrence.
The nigerian army has released the list of recruitment centres for its 81 regular recruit intake exercise.
The army released list via its verified facebook page, indicating that the recruitment exercise would hold from july 12 to 24.
The army had last week released the list of successful candidates and warned against fraudsters.
Also warning the candidates against alteration on their documents, imo state government noted that any alteration would render the documents invalid and eventually lead to disqualification.

President buhari made this known in a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, femi adesina, titled, despite our challenges, we are still a lucky country.
The president however, urged leaders in the country to respect the people, from the lowest to the highest, while he as well advised the people to choose who their leaders rightly, irrespective of political party or religion.
Ondo state governor, oluwarotimi akeredolu has been nominated as the governor of the year by the vanguard newspapers publishers, vanguard media group.
The award, according to the newspaper, is in recognition of the giant strides of the governor in the area of infrastructural development in ondo state.
The award will be conferred on him in lagos, on july 17, 2021.
The members all progressive congress, apc chapter in idanre local government of ondo state has vowed to vehemently reject any plan to impose executive members on the party.
A chieftain of the party in idanre local government area, hon. Tobi akinlalu, gave the warning, raising an alarm that some individuals were making moves to work against what the party leadership had earlier agreed on at a large meeting.

In his motion, speaker of the house of representatives, femi gbajabiamila, on consideration of the reports on the national security summit said the summit was held to generate ideas in tackling insecurity in the country.
He added that the committee met with stakeholders and security experts in which suggestions were provided and recommendations of the report were voted as well adopted by the lawmakers.
