NAFDAC/VACCINE

THE NATIONAL AGENCY FOR FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION AND CONTROL, NAFDAC HAS HINTED THAT IT WOULD SOON START MANUFACTURING VACCINES IN THE COUNTRY THUS LIMITING THE COUNTRY’S DEPENDENCY ON FOREIGN-PRODUCED VACCINES.

NAFDAC DIRECTOR-GENERAL, PROF. MOJISOLA ADEYEYE GAVE THE HINT AT A PRESS CONFERENCE IN ABUJA, FOLLOWING THE AGENCY’S ELEVATION BY THE GLOBAL HEALTH BODY TO A MATURITY LEVEL 3 STATUS.

PROF. ADEYEYE ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE AGENCY HAD RAISED ITS STANDARDS IN NOT JUST ADMINISTRATION AND MARKETING BUT ALSO IN POST-MARKETING, PRODUCTION REGISTRATION AND MANY OTHERS.

OKADA RIDERS IN ONDO STATE HAVE BEEN URGED TO SHUN DRUG ABUSE AND COMPLY WITH THE RUDIMENTS OF DRIVING ON THE ROAD TO ENSURE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS AND THE DRIVERS ALIKE.

FACILITATORS AT A TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR MOTORCYCLISTS ORGANISED BY THE STATE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT IN COLLABORATION WITH ONDO STATE COMMAND OF THE NATIONAL DRUG LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY, NDLEA GAVE THE ADMONITION AT THE RIDERS/DRIVERS’ INSTITUTE, OBA-ILE, AKURE.

SPEAKING AT THE EVENT, THE SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE GOVERNOR ON TRANSPORT, TOBI OGUNLEYE EMPHASIZED THAT THE TRAINING ENTAILS CAPTURING THE IDENTITY OF THE OKADA RIDERS AND LICENCE.

OGUNLEYE THEREFORE LAUDED GOVERNOR AKEREDOLU FOR THE INSTITUTE, SAYING THE PROGRAMME ENTAILS RUDIMENTARY TRAINING FOR OKADA RIDERS, TRICYCLISTS AND ALSO GIVE REFRESHAL COURSES FOR DRIVERS CORPORATE, PRIVATE OR COMMERCIAL.

ONDO POLICE/GOSSIP

ONDO STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, OYEYEMI OYEDIRAN HAS CHARGED POLICEMEN TO SHUN GOSSIP AND INTENSIFY EFFORTS TO CURB CRIME IN THE SOCIETY.

OYEDIRAN GAVE THE CHARGE DURING FAMILIARISATION TOURS TO THE SIX DIVISIONAL POLICE HEADQUARTERS LOCATED ACROSS ONDO EAST AND WEST, ILE-OLUJI/OKEIGBO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF THE STATE.

REACTING, THE D.P.O, ONDO AREA COMMAND IN YABA DIVISION, ACP FASESAN IBRAHIM SAID THE AREA COMMAND HAVE MAINTAINED THE SPIRIT OF ZERO TOLERANCE TO CRIME, ADDING THAT ROAD BLOCKS HAVE BEEN REMOVED IN ALL AREAS.

ALSO SPEAKING, THE VICE CHAIRMAN POLICE COMMUNITY RELATION COMMITTEE, PCRC ONDO CENTRAL, ERIC AKINSADE SAID THE CP VISIT WILL FURTHER BRING PEACE AND CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP IN THE CITY.

NSCDC/ ADULTERATED DIESEL

CROSS RIVER STATE COMMAND OF THE NIGERIA SECURITY AND CIVIL DEFENCE CORPS, NSCDC HAS ARRESTED TWO TRUCKS LOADED WITH 90,000 LITRES OF SUSPECTED ADULTERATED DIESEL.

STATE COMMANDANT OF NSCDC, SAMUEL FADEYI WHO CONDUCTED NEWSMEN ROUND THE IMPOUNDED TRUCKS ON AT THE NSCDC EXHIBIT YARD IN CALABAR SOUTH SAID THE TRUCKS WERE ARRESTED ON MARCH 23, 2022 IN IKOM LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF THE STATE.

ACCORDING TO HIM, SHORTLY AFTER THE ARREST, MEN OF THE NSCDC MANDATED THE DRIVERS TO DRIVE THE TRUCKS TO CALABAR, ADDING THAT THE DRIVERS JUMPED OUT OF THE TRUCKS ALONG THE ROAD AND RAN AWAY.

HE LAMENTED THAT THE ACT BY THE DRIVERS WERE CAPABLE OF CAUSING MORE HAVOC, IF NOT FOR THE SKILFUL CONTROL OF THE TRUCKS BY HIS MEN.

NMA/PROTEST

ABIA STATE CHAPTER OF THE NIGERIA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION HAS SUSPENDED ITS PLANNED PROTEST OVER THE ACCUMULATED SALARY OWED DOCTORS AT ABIA STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL, ABA AND THEIR COUNTERPARTS AT THE STATE’S HEALTH MANAGEMENT BOARD.

ACCORDING TO REPORT, NMA HAD PLANNED A PEACEFUL PROTEST AT THE HOSPITAL PREMISES AS PART OF ITS STRATEGIES TO FORCE THE STATE GOVERNMENT PAY 26 MONTHS AND 11 MONTHS SALARY ARREARS OWED DOCTORS AT BOTH INSTITUTIONS.

ACCORDING TO A STATEMENT JOINTLY ENDORSED BY THE STATE’S NMA CHAIRMAN, DR. CHIMEZIE OKWUONU AND SECRETARY, DR. ROBINSON UGWUANYI, THE STATE GOVERNMENT HAS TWO WEEKS TO PAY AT LEAST 80 PER CENT OF THE ACCUMULATED SALARY ARREARS OF DOCTORS AT THE AFFECTED INSTITUTIONS OR THE UNION WOULD PUSH AHEAD WITH THE PLANNED PROTEST.

IT ALSO APPEALED TO ITS MEMBERS TO REMAIN CALM EVEN AS THEY DISCHARGE THEIR CLINICAL DUTIES AMIDST THE VERY CONSTRAINED WORKING ENVIRONMENT.

ORTOM/ATTACK

BENUE STATE GOVERNOR, SAMUEL ORTOM HAS EXPRESSED GRIEF OVER THE SUSTAINED INVASION AND KILLINGS BY FULANI HERDSMEN.

GOVERNOR ORTOM MADE THE EXPRESSION WHILE REACTING TO THE RECENT KILLING OF RESIDENTS IN UNPROVOKED ATTACKS, CALLING ON BENUE COMMUNITIES TO RISE UP AND DEFEND THEMSELVES.

IT WAS REPORTED THAT THERE WERE COORDINATED ATTACKS ON GUMA, KWANDE AND GWER WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF THE STATE ON MARCH 29, 2022.

MEANWHILE, A REPORT FROM THE TEAM LEADER OF SECURITY AGENCIES IN KASEKYO NEAR TSE TORKULA VILLAGE IN GUMA LOCAL GOVERNMENT HAD SAID SUSPECTED FULANI HERDERS SHOT ONE TURNER AJAR AND AN UNIDENTIFIED ELDERLY MAN WHO WERE GOING TO THE FARM ON A MOTORCYCLE.

THE NIGERIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION, NFF HAS APOLOGISED TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND FOOTBALL FANS AFTER THE NATIONAL TEAM FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR THIS YEAR’S WORLD CUP IN QATAR.

EXPRESSING SHOCK OVER THE SAD INCIDENT, THE NFF COMMISERATED WITH THE WORLD FOOTBALL GOVERNING BODY, FIFA, CAF, THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA AND THE FAMILY OF DR. KABUNGO ON HIS SUDDEN PASSING.
