Ondo state government has warned encroachers of government farmlands against taking unauthorized possession and sales of the lands to people.
Permanent secretary of agriculture, Sunday Akintomide issued the warning while speaking with journalist in his office in Akure, the state capital.
Akintomide identified the farmlands that had been encroached upon to include; Mariwo farm settlement in Ifedore local government area, Oniseere farm settlement in Idanre LGA, Ile-Oluji farm settlement in Ile-Oluji/okeigbo LGA, and Okitipupa farm settlement in Okitipupa LGA, of the state.
The permanent secretary said government is aware that unauthorized persons are selling government farmlands to individuals and group of people who are not aware that the lands belong to the government.
He therefore warned against such act, as well those buying to be careful of falling victim of fraudsters as anyone caught would face the full wrath of law.
Following the bloody robbery attack that occurred in Ondo State July 16, 2021, where three persons were killed, security has been beefed up in banks across the state.
Report said the move was made in order to forestall the scenario that occurred in Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore local government area of the state where 15 armed robbers laid siege on an old generation bank for over 20 minutes unchallenged.
During the attack which happened at a branch of UBA in the town, the robbers were said to have carted away the sum of 2 million naira.
According to the police public relations officer of the state command, DSP Tee-Leo Ikoro, the special armed tactical policemen had been deployed to keep surveillance around all financial institutions in the state.
A socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has advised the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government that threats of death or imprisoning agitators cannot quench the call for Biafra.
The group made this known in a statement, maintaining that dialogue and negotiation remains the viable means to end the issue.

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has dismissed as pretentious and empty sophistry the statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari describing the lingering banditry in the North West as disturbing.
The president, while hosting 12 governors and some federal lawmakers, had said the lingering crisis in the northwest is caused by the same people against themselves.
However, reacting, HURIWA, in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, frowned at what it described as the lackadaisical attitude of the present administration towards handling the issues of terrorism in the North West, saying it was unjustifiable and tragic.
The federal high court sitting in Abuja, has ordered the director general of the Department of State Services, DSS, to produce the 12 detained aides of Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Igboho in court on July 29.
Judge of the court, Justice Obiora Egwatu gave the order also ordering that the DSS boss appears in court on the day to show cause on why the court should not admit Igboho’s aides bail conditionally or unconditionally.
The detained aides were arrested during a raid on the Soka, Ibadan, Oyo state, residence of Sunday Igboho on July 1.
The court gave the order in a ruling on an ex parte application filed and argued by Pelumi Olajemgbesi on behalf of the detainees.
