THE COALITION OF CONCERNED NORTHERN FORUM, CCNF HAS STATED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MISGIVINGS AND MISREADING OF THEIR DEMANDS, ESPECIALLY BY THOSE WHO PROFIT FROM CRISIS SITUATIONS FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE NIGERIAN NATIONAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION, NNPC, MELE KYARI AND THE PROSECUTION OF IMPORTERS INVOLVED IN THE CONTAMINATED FUEL.

CCNF HAD CALLED ON KYARI AND THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF NIGERIA MIDSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM PETROLEUM REGULATORY AUTHORITY, MDPRA, ENGR. FAROUK AHMED TO TENDER THEIR RESIGNATION WITHIN 72 HOURS OVER THE PERSISTENT FUEL SCARCITY IN THE COUNTRY.

THE GROUP ALSO DEMANDED THAT NNPC MANAGEMENT MAKE PUBLIC GENUINE AND COMPREHENSIVE NAMES OF THOSE INVOLVED IN THE CURRENT SCARCITY OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

WHILE DECLARING THAT THEIR CALL WAS BORNE OUT OF PATRIOTISM OVER THE HARDSHIP OCCASIONED BY THE SCARCITY OF PREMIUM MOTOR SPIRIT, PMS ALSO CALLED PETROL, THE GROUP, IN A STATEMENT HOWEVER STATED THAT ANY STATION FOUND TO BE SABOTAGING THE GOVERNMENT’S EFFORT, THE PRODUCT SHOULD BE DISPENSED FREE TO MOTORISTS AND SUCH STATION BE SEALED.

YOUTH/POLITICS

ABUBAKAR OPINED THAT THE TOP-CLASS PEOPLE WHO USUALLY CAUSE VIOLENCE WOULD NEITHER GO NOR SEND THEIR CHILDREN BUT WOULD JUST ORGANISE THOSE FROM THE LOWER CLASS TO START HARASSING OTHER PEOPLE

AKINOLA EXPLAINED THAT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE EVENT COULD NOT BE OVER EMPHASIZED AS IT HELPS STUDENTS DEVELOP AN APPRECIATION FOR ART AND LANGUAGE AS WELL AS DIFFERENT CULTURES.

FORMER SENATOR REPRESENTING KADUNA CENTRAL, SHEHU SANI HAS CONDEMNED THE ACTION OF THE NIGERIAN ARMY WHICH LED TO THE KILLING OF SEVEN CHILDREN IN THE NIGER REPUBLIC ON FEBRUARY 20, 2022.

REPORTS HAD EMERGED THAT AN AIRSTRIKE BY THE NIGERIAN ARMY TARGETING THE ARMED BANDITS TERRORIZING PARTS OF NORTHERN NIGERIA MISTAKENLY KILLED AT LEAST SEVEN CHILDREN AND INJURED FIVE OTHERS IN THE NIGER REPUBLIC.

HOWEVER REACTING IN A TWEET ON HIS OFFICIAL TWITTER HANDLE, THE FORMER LAWMAKER DESCRIBED THE INCIDENT AS UNFORTUNATE, SAYING SUCH MISTAKES MUST BE AVOIDED IN SUBSEQUENT TIMES.

WHILE CONDOLING WITH FAMILY OF THE DECEASED CHILDREN AND PEOPLE OF NIGER REPUBLIC, THE KADUNA STATE 2023 GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANT THEREFORE SUGGESTED THAT FAMILY OF THE DECEASED CHILDREN BE COMPENSATED.

FORMER IMO STATE GOVERNOR, ROCHAS OKOROCHA WILL TODAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2022 BE ARRAIGNED BEFORE A FEDERAL HIGH COURT IN ABUJA ON CORRUPTION CHARGES.

REPORT SAYS OKOROCHA, CURRENTLY A SERVING SENATOR  WOULD BE PUT ON TRIAL BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON 17-COUNT CHARGES INVOLVING CRIMINAL DIVERSION OF PUBLIC FUNDS RUNNING INTO BILLIONS OF NAIRA AND PROPERTIES.

THE CHARGES SIGHTED BY NEWSMEN AND DATED JANUARY 24, 2022 WAS SIGNED BY ONE A.O IKOTA ON BEHALF OF THE ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COMMISSION, EFCC AS SOURCES EXPLAINED THAT ALL NECESSARY  STEPS INCLUDING SERVICE OF THE CHARGES ON OKOROCHA AND 6 OTHER DEFENDANTS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAW HAVE BEEN TAKEN.

MEANWHILE, THE ARRAIGNMENT IS EXPECTED TO BE PRESIDED OVER BY JUSTICE INYANG EKWO OF THE ABUJA DIVISION OF THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT.

KANU/TRIAL

SPECIAL COUNSEL TO THE LEADER OF THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA, IPOB, MAZI NNAMDI KANU, ALOY EJIMAKOR HAS REACTED TO REPORTS THAT THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT, ABUJA WAS CONSIDERING SHIFTING THE TRIAL VENUE OF HIS CLIENT.

IN A CHAT WITH NEWSMEN, EJIMAKOR EXPLAINED THAT THE IPOB LEADER LAST RESIDED IN ABIA STATE, SUGGESTING THAT KANU’S TRIAL SHOULD BE SHIFTED TO THE UMUAHIA DIVISION OF THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT.

THE SPECIAL COUNSEL WHO SUGGESTED THAT THE COURT SHOULD ALSO CONSIDER MOVING THE TRIAL TO ANY STATE IN THE SOUTH-EAST STRESSED THAT ABUJA HAS NO TERRITORIAL CONNECTION WITH THE CRIMES LEVELLED AGAINST THE PRO-BIAFRAN AGITATOR.

MEANWHILE, THE CHIEF JUDGE OF THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT, JUSTICE JOHN TSOHO HAS REVEALED THE POSSIBILITY OF CHANGING THE VENUE OF KANU’S TRIAL, EXPLAINING THAT THE DECISION WAS TO PREVENT THE INTERRUPTION OF OTHER PENDING CASES IN COURT DURING KANU’S TRIAL.
