The Ekiti State Government has confirmed the arrest of a security operative attached to wife of the State Governor, Bisi fayemi for rape.
State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapounda made the confirmation in a statement, vowing that the culprit would face the full wrath of the law.
According to Fapounda, the alleged rape occurred on July 5, 2021, in Abuja and that the matter is now under probe by the Criminal Investigation Department, Federal Capital Territory, FCT command, adding that further action would be determined by the outcome of the probe.
He however explained that the victim is receiving extensive psycho-social and legal support to cope with the trauma.
Ahead of the 2021 Eid Al-Adha festival, the Osun state government has alerted residents against Avian Influenza Virus.
State commissioner for agriculture and food security, Adedayo Adewole, raised the alarm during a sensitization Programme held in Osogbo, the state capital, to enlighten live bird marketers on the ravaging effect of Avian Influenza Disease on livestock.
Adewole, represented by Director of Veterinary Services, Dr Abosede Olatokun said the disease had already been discovered in eight states in the country, advising the people to examine the kind of bird, goat and ram they purchase in the markets especially during the festive period when different kinds of animals would be brought from neighbouring states for sale.
The commissioner further explained that Avian Influenza disease can affect birds, animals and even human beings through consumption, hence the need for the people to maintain proper hygiene to prevent the disease.
Some unknown gunmen have killed two soldiers of the Nigerian Army in Enugu state.
Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen, saying the troops were killed during an operation to repel Eastern Security Network at Adani community of Uzo-uwani local government area of the state.
Nwachukwu said in the fire fight that ensured, some of the gunmen fled but assured the general public of the army’s commitment to provide adequate security in the state in collaboration with other security agencies.
The army PRO added that the troops are currently on the trail of the criminals while he urged the public to provide useful information on the fleeing gunmen to the force.
