Resident doctors in two teaching hospitals in bayelsa state has complied with the directive of the national association of resident doctors, nard to embark on a total indefinite nationwide strike.

Nard president at the federal medical centre, fmc, yenogoa, dr divine irole disclosed to newsmen that members of the association had totally complied with the directives and are awaiting further instructions from the national leadership of the union.

Similarly, nard president at the niger delta university teaching hospital nduth yenagoa, dr oru-oru inetsol revealled that  the consultants’ roles are not in conflict with the interest of resident doctors.

It would be recalled that nard had directed its members across the country to embark on a total strike from monday, july 2, in a bid to remind the federal government of their needs.

Osun state governor, adegboyega oyetola has charged corp members deployed to the state to see the national youth service corp, nysc scheme as the vehicle that avails them the platform to practise what they have been taught in their various institutions.

Governor oyetola gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of 2021 batch b, stream 1 corp members held at the state nysc permanent orientation camp, ede.

The governor, represented by the osun state coordinator of the nysc, ayodele adegoke, explained  that the nation’s 48-year-old legacy has over the years succeeded in inculcating discipline and raising the moral tone of corps members.

He therefore urged them to take the programme seriously and participate actively in all camp activities as they have been thoughtfully and carefully put together for their betterment and that of the nation’s.

Yaf/agitators

The yoruba appraisal forum, yaf has condemned plans by agitators to present petitions at the 76th united nations general assembly opening on september 14.

In a statement revealed to newsmen, the yaf coordinator, adesina animashaun, frowned at the decision, saying such would escalate insecurity and tension in nigeria.

Animashaun added that the violence by agitators in the south-west was part of the plot to destabilise nigeria for their selfish political gain, therefore warning unrepentant critics of the federal government to stop.

It would be recalled that a body of yoruba self-determination groups, the ilana omo oodua, had petitioned the un on july 13, over its demand for an independent yoruba state.
