PDP\CORRUPTION

THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PDP HAS DEMANDED THE IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION AND PROSECUTION OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA, CBN, GODWIN EMEFIELE DUE TO ALLEGATIONS BY THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC THAT HE SUPERINTENDED OVER MASSIVE LOOTING OF FUNDS IN THE APEX BANK.

THE PARTY MADE THE CALL IN A STATEMENT BY ITS NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY, KOLA OLOGBONDIYAN, CALLING ON THE ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COMMISSION, EFCC TO IMMEDIATELY INVITE EMEFIELE FOR QUESTIONING OVER ALLEGATIONS BY THE NATIONAL SECRETARY OF THE RULING PARTY NATIONAL CARETAKER COMMITTEE, SENATOR JOHN UDOEDEHE THAT THE CBN GOVERNOR SUPERVISED THE PILLAGING OF THE NATION’S VAULTS UNDER HIS WATCH.

IT WOULD BE RECALLED THAT UDOEDEHE WHILE FEATURING ON A TELEVISION PROGRAMME ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2021 HAD REVEALED THAT THE CBN GOVERNOR SUPERVISED THE STEALING OF MONEY IN THE APEX BANK.

OLOGBONDIYAN ADDED THAT THE MAJOR OPPOSITION PARTY HAD WAITED A WEEK FOR UDOEDEHE TO RECANT ON HIS STATEMENT OR FOR EMEFIELE TO REPUDIATE THE APC NATIONAL SECRETARY BUT NOTHING WAS DONE.

OGUN/NANS

OGUN STATE CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS, NANS HAS CALLED ON GOVERNOR DAPO ABIODUN TO ALLOW THE PAYMENT OF PARENTS-TEACHERS ASSOCIATION, PTA LEVIES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS WITHIN THE STATE, CLAIMING THAT HIS FREE EDUCATION WAS NOT REAL.

OGUN NANS SPOKESPERSON, OLUFEMI OWOEYE MADE THE CALL, ADDING THAT CANCELLATION OF FEES ALONE DOES NOT COMMENSURATE TO FREE EDUCATION AS SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS HAD BEEN BATTLING WITH UNPAID 5 MONTHS RUNNING COSTS.

IT WOULD BE RECALLED THAT GOV ABIODUN HAD IN 2019 SAID HE WAS COMMITTED TO RUNNING FREE EDUCATION IN ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN OGUN, STOPPING THE PAYMENT OF 3,700 NAIRA WHICH HE HAD EARLIER APPROVED AS PTA DONATION TO SCHOOLS.

OWOEYE THEREFORE URGED THE GOVERNMENT TO SUMMARILY LIFT BAN ON PAYMENT OF PARENTS-TEACHERS ASSOCIATION, PTA, NOTING THAT THE CURRENT ECONOMIC REALITIES HAD SHOWN THAT GOVERNMENT ALONE COULD NOT CATER FOR THE ACADEMIC SECTOR.

NIGER/CSC

THE NIGER STATE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION, CSC HAS DEBUNKED KNOWLEDGE OF THE RECENT ALLEGED MASS SACKING OF 726 CIVIL SERVANTS FROM THE STATE GOVERNMENT WORKFORCE.

MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION LED BY COMRADE MOHAMMED ERENA MADE THE DENIAL WHILE APPEARING BEFORE THE STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY AD-HOC COMMITTEE ON SALARY IRREGULARITIES IN THE STATE, STATING THAT THE LIST OF THOSE DISMISSED BEING CIRCULATED AROUND DOES NOT ORIGINATE FROM THE COMMISSION.

ERENA FURTHER EXPLAINED TO THE LAWMAKERS THAT MATTERS OF SUCH MAGNITUDE WERE NEVER HANDLED BY INDIVIDUALS BUT BY THE COMMISSION WHICH WAS MADE UP OF FIVE MEMBERS INCLUDING THE CHAIRMAN, CLAIMING THAT THEY SAW THE LIST OF THE DISMISSED STAFF ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

HE ALSO MAINTAINED THAT THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION WAS EMPOWERED BY LAW TO EMPLOY, PROMOTE, DISCIPLINE INCLUDING DISMISSING CIVIL SERVANTS AND NO AUTHORITY HAD THE POWER TO DO THAT EXCEPT THE COMMISSION.
