Ondo state security outfit codenamed Amotekun has arrested no fewer than 400 suspected criminals in the ongoing operation clean up in the state.
State commander of the security corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Akure, the state capital.
Adeleye said the security started from the state capital and made over 400 arrests before heading to the local government areas and concentrated on the northern senatorial district where they embarked on 24 hours patrol.
He noted that the corps engaged the services of local hunters and vigilantes to join Amotekun men to checkmate bad activities, including kidnapping in the state.
The commander however assured that the security would not relent in making sure the people of Ondo state are adequately secured as they are ready for a massive onslaught against criminals, particularly in Ajowa-ifira axis in the four local governments in Akoko.
The Nigeria labour congress, NLC, Niger state chapter has debunked the alleged compulsory retirement of 380 civil servants over age falsification or alteration of date of first appointment as claimed by the state civil service commission.
State NLC chairman, comrade Yakubu Garba made the denial in a statement, noting that about 90 percent of the said 380 personnel were still on government payroll as at May, 2021.
Garba stated that for clarity, the civil service commission on its part conducted investigation and believes the 380 civil servants erred, by the offenses mentioned, but processes leading to their compulsory retirement have not been concluded.
The NLC chairman also claimed that stipulated procedures were not adhered to in their purported compulsory retirement from the state civil service as such it is null and void.
The executive director, federal capital territory rural water supply and sanitation agency, DR Mohammed Dan-Hassan has condemned the practice of open defecation, especially during the rainy season.
Dan-Hassan condemned this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, saying open defecation is a major cause of outbreak of epidemics.
According to him, the current outbreak of cholera in the country especially in the FCT communities calls for concern because dirty and unsafe water is the major reason for the outbreak.
He therefore called for more active participation of communities in eradicating the menace, saying except the practice is totally eradicated, there might be no way out.
The department of state security service has agreed to allow the leader of the proscribed indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, nnamdi kanu meet with his lawyers.
This was disclosed by nnamdi Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor through his twitter handle.
Ejiofor said their effort is yielding the desired result, as they received a communication approving their visit to their client.
Meanwhile, kanu has been in the custody of the Nigerian secret police since he was arrested and repatriated from Kenya to Nigeria on June 27, 2021 to face trial after jumping bail in 2017 for charges bothering on terrorism, treasonable felony, illegal possession of arms among others, levied against him.
However, the counsel assured Nigerians and the world of relating outcome of the meeting immediately.
Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a winger, victor Moses has left Chelsea to complete a permanent move to Russian club, Spartak moscow.
Moses, who made 20 appearances for Spartak during his loan spell last season is said to have complete his permanent transfer today.
The 30-year-old spent nine years with the blues but struggled to break into the team in recent seasons, after joining Chelsea in 2012 from Wigan, he finished with 128 appearances for the blues, scored 18 goals and won the premier league, the fa cup as well as the Europa league.
