Jigawa/2021 budget

Jigawa state house of assembly has approved the 2021 supplementary budget by raising the proposed estimate to over 2.4 billion naira.

Governor badaru abubakar had earlier written to the state house of assembly seeking for their approval of the sum of 18.9 billion naira as 2021 supplementary budget to facilitate the completion of ongoing projects on the areas of road construction, health sector, education, commerce and industry, water supply and sanitation.

While deliberating on the bill, member representing maigatari constituency, muhammad abubakar told the lawmakers the need to inject the 2019, 2020 and 2021 constituency projects deficit in the supplementary budget.

The house therefore added the sum of 2.4 billion naira on the proposed bill of 18.9 billion sent by the state executives, bringing the total amount to 20.44 billion naira.


Australian authorities have extended a lockdown in sydney after three weeks of initial restrictions failed to stamp out the biggest outbreak of covid-19 this year in the country’s largest city.

New south wales premier, gladys berejiklian told newsmen that the lockdown would be extended for another two weeks after the state health ministry reported 97 new locally transmitted cases, a slight increase from a day earlier.

She said many non-essential businesses would be closed and most school students would be staying home with residents only allowed outside their homes for essential activities and some exercise.

The state premier therefore noted that restrictions would remain in place until at least july 30 while the lockdown, in place since june 26, 2021 would only be lifted when the number of newly reported cases that were circulating in the community were close to zero.

China/pakistan blast

Not less than eight people, including six chinese nationals and one pakistani soldier have been killed in a blast targeting a bus in a remote region of northern pakistan.

A senior government official who spoke with newsmen on condition of anonymity said the bus which was carrying over 30 chinese engineers to the site of the dasu dam in upper kohistan plunged into a deep ravine after the blast and caused heavy losses.

He noted that six chinese nationals, a paramilitary soldier and one local were killed while several people were injured and two still missing, adding that it was not immediately clear if the blast was the result of a roadside device or something planted inside the bus.

He however assured that the rescue operation is being launched and the entire government machinery has been mobilised to rescue the injured by air ambulance.
