Vice president, yemi osinbajo, san, has stated that he will greatly miss the late alhaji ahmed joda’s wise counsel on a wide variety of economic and social issues.
Osinbajo in a statement personally signed, described the northern elder statesman as an exceptional statesman, committed patriot, outstanding technocrat and a bridge builder.
Before his death, joda was the chairman of the presidential transition that followed the victory of the buhari/osinbajo ticket in the 2015 election.
Osinbajo while lamenting that nigeria has lost a passionate believer in the nation, joined the president in expressing sincere condolence to the family and associates of deceased.
He, however, prayed that the lord will comfort his family, associates and the people of adamawa state from where he hailed also said his memory always remains blessed.
Plateau state government has imposed a curfew from 6pm to 6am in jos north, bassa and jos south lgas of the state until further notice.
Plateau state governor, simon lalong gave the order following the killings that took place on saturday, august 14 at rukuba road area of jos north lga of the state, which claimed many lives and left several others injured.
according to the governor, the curfew was put in place in order to avoid further deterioration of the situation and to protect lives and properties of citizens.
The governor therefore urged citizens to abide by the directive to enable security personnel maintain law and order in the affected areas and deal with those attempting to cause trouble by taking advantage of the situation to perpetrate crime.
The united nations children’s fund, unicef has confirmed cases of vaccine-derived poliovirus in 12 states in the country.
Unicef’s health manager for maiduguri field office, dr clement adams, made this known in a statement to newsmen, stating that countries across the world, including nigeria, were experiencing an outbreak of vaccine-derived poliovirus.
Adams while assuring that unicef is doing everything possible to work alongside the federal and state governments to ensure that it is effectively contained, revealed that the current circulating poliovirus type 2 virus can be managed by ensuring that every children under five years are quickly immunised.
