Nigeria has recorded 460 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 191,805.
The nigeria centre for disease control, ncdc gave the figure via its website, saying the 460 fresh cases reported on august 30 was an increase from the 362 cases posted on august 29.
Ncdc said the recent surge in infections was driven by the spread of the delta variant in the country, adding that the infections disease were recorded in 13 states.
The agency noted that rivers state reported the highest infections of the day with 164 new cases, followed by lagos 139, edo 61, bayelsa 20, oyo 14, plateau 7, ogun 6, anambra and benue 4 each, enugu, 2, cross river and kaduna 1 each.
It further stated that 178,492 covid-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged while it recorded one covid-19-related death, bringing the total fatalities to 2,455.
Kazakhstan defence minister, yermekbayev nurlan has resigned days after a fire and a series of blasts at an arms depot killed 15 soldiers and firefighters.
The office of president kassym-jomart tokayev confirmed nurlan resignation, saying dozens of people were wounded by the blasts which forced the authorities to evacuate nearby settlements in kazakhstan’s southern zhambyl province on august 26 as the cause of the fire remains unclear.
Report says the fire and blasts provoked a public outcry as the explosives at the base had been relocated there from a facility in the town of arys after a similar incident killed four people there in 2019.
Officials with the organisation confirmed this in a statement, saying amcham members were notified on august 30 that, in accordance with chinese laws and regulations, the chamber would stop operations and no longer carry out any activities in the name of the american chamber of commerce in southwest china.
The officials further stated that the reason beyind the authorties order is yet unclear but would do as instructed.
